Our Story
The people, the philosophy, and the journey from Kolkata's lanes to Seattle's Wedgwood.
Where Kolkata's Soul Meets Wedgwood's Heart
85th Socials was born from a simple truth — the best meals happen when food, stories, and people come together without hurry. In Kolkata, we call this আড্ডা (adda).
Chef Sujay Dutta brought this tradition 8,000 miles from the ghats of the Hooghly River to the quiet streets of Wedgwood. Not as a replica, but as a bridge — connecting the warmth of Bengali hospitality with the spirit of Seattle's neighborhood dining.

Chef Sujay Dutta
Born in the bustling lanes of North Kolkata, Chef Sujay grew up watching his grandmother transform simple spices into extraordinary stories. After training at the Institute of Hotel Management Kolkata and honing his craft across fine-dining kitchens in Mumbai and London, he carried his grandmother's philosophy to Seattle — that every dish should start a conversation.
“Food is not just sustenance — it's memory, it's culture, it's the thread that connects us across generations and geographies. At 85th Socials, every plate carries a piece of Kolkata's soul.”

The Art of Adda
In Bengali culture, আড্ডা (Adda) is more than conversation — it's a way of life. It's the unhurried gathering of friends over food and chai, where ideas flow, stories are shared, and time slows down.
At 85th Socials, we've built a space designed for exactly this. No rush, no pressure. Just great food, thoughtful drinks, and the kind of warmth that turns strangers into regulars and meals into memories.
